Course Description

This course introduces students to the interdisciplinary field of gender studies, using readings in critical theory, sociology, anthropology, international relations, political science, history, and literary studies. Some questions that we will consider include: How have gender and sex been explained as natural and social phenomena ? In what ways do gender and sexuality shape individual identity, the social world, and everyday life? How does gender and sexuality intersect with race/ nationality/class/ethnicity?

Course validation

Obligatoire - 300 caractères maximum, dans la langue principale de l'enseignement) Students will receive comments and grades throughout the semester. Group presentation 30%, two essays (60% total, 30% each), participation 10%

Required reading

We will read and discuss 3-4 articles per class meeting. Readings are available as course reader and also on Moodle
