Type d'enseignement : Workshop

Semester : Spring 2017-2018

Number of hours : 24

Language of tuition : English

Course Description

During the twelve sessions of the course we will complete three short films.(3 to 5mn). After a first class of introduction the students will be divided in three groups. Each group will be working for two to three sessions on collective writing of a script for a film in the genre of their choice. There will be a constraint of theme that will be decided for everyone in advance. We will then proceed to prepare the shoot : casting, location props and costumes. The actors will have to be chosen from the students in the class and each student should at least have a small part in one of the three films. At this point we will also choose the director, set designer, costume designer, editor... for each film. It will be a great opportunity to understand the elements and team members necessary to film making and try out various roles in that respect. Work of preparation, part of the shooting and post production (specifically the editing) will be required from the students outside of class' hours. The course will come to a close with the editing and the screening of the movies. Each step of the process will be supervised and we will use scenes from various films to feed our imagination and analyse the strenghth of an image in terms of story telling.
