Course Description

Economic studies and reports have established that corruption undermines growth and development. Developed countries are acting together to reduce corruption and sanction not only the corrupted party but also the corrupting party. Perhaps the most powerful legislative tool to fight corruption internationally is the American Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. This seminar will provide an overview of the main international anti-corruption laws of the United States. It will also include limited discussion of similar laws of several other countries as well as discuss recent U.S. and international legal developments. In addition to learning the legal framework, students will also increase their ability to identify, mitigate and manage corruption risk.
