KEMI 2090A - Creation and Innovation

Type d'enseignement : Seminar

Semester : Spring 2017-2018

Number of hours : 12

Language of tuition : English

Course Description

Creation seems to be everywhere. The plurality of meanings attached to this word today includes artists as well as entrepreneurs or Youtube creators. Creation fascinates because of what it conveys: the ability to put something new in the world. In short, to innovate. The multiple links between creation and innovation need to be investigated through several themes. How to define creativity? What is inspiration? Are there methods or recipes to create and innovate? Is it a solitary or a group activity? These questions will be addressed through several readings and examples from the designer's perspective, whether it's art, technology or business. Indeed, the designer‘s position lies in-between those worlds - head and hands, dream and rationality. Creation and innovation.
