The graduate seminar is structured in three parts. The first part introduces the argument, both theoretically and empirically, and addresses specific issues related to the creation and evolution of welfare state regimes and will focus on specific European territorial variants. The second part focuses on the recent changes which affected European welfare states, such as marketization and decentralization. Such trends will be presented empirically and critically discussed.
