Course Description

The course is intended to address the role that various branches of law and enforcement mechanisms play during conflicts, notably general public international law on the use of force, international humanitarian law, international human rights law, international criminal law and international refugee law. During the course we will examine different situations of conflict, focusing each lecture on a topic or a case study in which we will critically examine the law and the role of States, non states armed groups, international organizations, NGOs and international and domestic tribunals.

Course validation

Oral presentation (group work): 30%; Final paper: 60%; Oral participation during the class: 10 %.
