Basic principles in economics / macroeconomics and European affairs (institutions and policies) are welcome

Course Description

The teaching focuses on the European Union / Euro area economic policies, in terms of institutional design, policy content and challenges for the future. Both teachers cover micro and macro economic issues, based on their personal experience as practitioners in the institutions. Economic theory is just a basic resource to better understand the EU policy challenges and the current debates on the future of key policies such as competition, trade, monetary union, taxation, fiscal policy and the regulation of the financial sector. On competition, the teachers propose a “real life” case in a group format.

Pedagogical format

Normal sessions are organized around oral presentation by students, followed by a collective discussion and a technical commentary by the teacher Some lessons will be organized around a case study, in a group format
