Course Description

Healthcare systems of European countries are facing important common challenges. The course select 11 of these major challenges (see list below). The course aims at understanding the roots of these challenges, identifying the questions they raise and debate around the solutions chosen by various countries to address them. The course will benefit from point of views of field players. It will mix, presentations, case studies, bibliography and debates.

Pedagogical format

Each session will consist of four parts : - Presentation of the challenge by a healthcare professional and Q&A ; - Case study prepared by a group of students ; - Debate between two students on a specific question ; - Students‘ succinct presentation of the bibliography.

Course validation

Students will be graded upon four different types of group and personal work : - Group presentation of a case study 40% ; - One to one prepared Debate 30% ; - Collecting relevant bibliography: 20% ; - Participation to exchanges 10%.


For this course a student will need to do some personal researches in order to prepare : - one case study presentation with two other students (assignments announced during the 1st session), - one debate against another student (topic announced a week in advance), - one relevant bibliography on the lesson (at least 4 documents, short presentation required).
