Course Description

The course provides an overview of the role of Human Resources Management and how it supports organisations. We will cover an overview of the employee lifecycle and the HR processes that support how an organisation attracts, retains, develops, rewards their employees and keep them engaged. We will also look at how an organisation builds a Human Capital Strategy. Finally we will examine some of the current challenges facing global organisations in their traditional approach to HR, including the changing workforce and ways of working, the rise of social media and the increasing importance of ethics, culture and corporate citizenship.

Pedagogical format

The content will be delivered using real life examples and case studies of international organisations. Students will be expected to prepare 2 case studies in groups. Pre-reads for each course will include articles.

Course validation

Continuous assessment grade: participation (10%), case studies (50%) and final exam in class (40%).

Workload

12 seminars of two hours each (24 hours).

  • A few case studies will be provided by the teacher ahead of targeted course
