Course Description

New regulations add new and extended responsabilities to the internal control department and the compliant officer. We will study how the new financial regulation has been settled in the banking sector and has spreaded in insurance and industry. The lecture will focus on internal control concepts, fundamental and organization principles, with a focus on different control levels, the risk management function and the audit function. Secondly the lecture will focus on the Compliant officer. This new top manager is more powerful each year due to new assignements : how to qualify and prevent fraud, to define and manage Anti Money Laundering action plans and to tackle terrorism. The compliant officer and the internal controller have reinforced their consulting role to the board. As States are putting a lot of pressure to Bankers and Insurance Companies to manage their risk in a matured and more secured way, we will analyse new controls to be putted in place and the correlated financial penalties for unefficient control system.
