Course Description

How can we evaluate the effectiveness of social policies? How can research help inform public policies? The goal of this course is to provide a detailed understanding of the logic behind public policies evaluations. It aims to prepare students to intelligently assess the strength of existing studies and critically raise interesting questions, both from a theoretical and practical view. Through many examples of social policies in the field of employment, education, discrimination or poverty, the course will present multiple methods used in the field of social science. It will present material through interactive lectures and case studies using examples from completed or ongoing evaluations.
