KCOE 4195 - World of Fictions (The)

Type d'enseignement : Elective

Semester : Autumn 2018-2019

Number of hours : 24

Language of tuition : English

Course Description

Marvel's superheroes, Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Assassin's Creed, etc. : this class aims at exploring how today's most popular fictions migrate from one screen to another, from TV series to movies to video games, not forgetting the good old books (which can also be read on a screen !). Personal research, readings and dialog with creators, producers and experts will help the student understand more about narration, representation, adaptation, transmedia, fan culture, glocalization and the challenges facing fiction creators and sellers around the world. Most of the classes will be based on a suggested or mandatory reading/screening and a discussion with an invited guest. A special focus (half of the classes) will be given to TV series and the way they are created in France, Denmark and Korea.
