Course Description

This course aims at giving an overview of some key issue for Sub-Saharan Africa: main vulnerabilities (the three curses of Africa: demography, geopolitical situation, natural resources dependency), what could be the long term development model at this juncture, how it could be financed and how is designed a structural adjustment program in SSA. This course has the ambition through interactive discussions based on data, empirical evidence and case studies to enlighten debates on topical issues and to dispute some preconceived ideas or common beliefs as well as to give some economic tools to better understand the economic and financial situation in SSA, assess country risks and long term development strategies
