Course Description

This course is designed to introduce law students to critical interdisciplinary research in the field of global governance. Various legal issues with significant implications for global governancewill be analyzed from a social science perspective. The focus will be on the various legal structures and institutions that underlie or accompany current modes of capitalist production in the global economy (sovereign debt, commodities markets, value chains, property regimes, dispute resolution).

Pedagogical format

Interactive debates with two teachers introducing inter-disciplinary perspectives on global governance.

Course validation

Continuous assessment of participation.


Students will be expected to do the preparatory readings (2/3) for each session, and to prepare "conversation starters" for each class.
