Course Description

Corporations can deeply impact their environment positively or not. Expectations towards companies are growing from various stakeholders; therefore CSR is constantly changing. Companies are expected: to create value by contributing to the common good, to propose solutions to solve complex challenges including those to limit the negative impacts of their activities, to improve business practices in a fair and responsible way. CSR is not an additional constraint but an opportunity to rejuvenate company's strategy, reputation, and processes. The course will provide basic notions and tools in a critical mode, to understand philanthropy, CSR, social business or social intrapreneurship. Practical cases from global corporations will be introduced. It will prepare you to implement CSR actions & plans in your future responsibilities.

Pedagogical format

Lectures, case presentations and case preparations, discussions.

Course validation

Class participation (10%), Presentation of a reading (30%), Case studies (group preparation, personal oral presentation & written report) (60%).


6 seminars of two hours each (12 hours). Credits: 2. Preparation time: 1 hour of reading for each seminar. Group work on a case to present to the class: 4 hours.
